The Boulder Radon Warranty

We Stand Behind Our Work

A radon mitigation system should do what you paid for it to do.

At Boulder Radon, our warranty is built around a simple principle: you should not have to rely solely on us to tell you whether our own work was successful.

We install radon mitigation systems, and we stand behind their performance. We also recognize the potential conflict of interest that can exist when the same company that charges to reduce radon is the only company allowed to determine whether the system worked.

That is why our warranty does not require you to simply take our word for it.

Your Radon Tester Counts

If you own a consumer radon monitor, you are welcome to use it to keep an eye on the radon levels in your home.

If your monitor indicates that radon levels have risen above the level guaranteed in your project-specific warranty, contact us. We will not dismiss a potential warranty issue simply because the reading came from a device that was not supplied or operated by Boulder Radon.

You may also use an independent radon measurement professional or other qualified third-party testing service.

Our goal is simple: if there is a legitimate problem with the performance of a system we installed, we want to know about it and we want the opportunity to make it right.

Verification of Elevated Readings

Radon levels naturally fluctuate, and readings can vary based on weather, season, building conditions, device placement, test duration, and the equipment being used. For this reason, a single elevated reading or short-term spike does not necessarily mean that a mitigation system has failed.

When a customer reports elevated radon levels, Boulder Radon reserves the right to independently verify those results before determining what warranty work may be necessary.

Verification may include placing a professional continuous radon monitor, such as a Corentium Pro, in the home for an appropriate measurement period, typically up to seven days. We may also compare measurements taken by multiple devices at the same time and location when readings appear inconsistent.

Testing equipment must be reasonably located and operated according to the manufacturer's instructions and applicable radon measurement practices.

If measurements conflict substantially, additional testing may be necessary before a warranty determination can be made.

The purpose of verification is not to invalidate a customer's tester. It is to make sure that both the homeowner and Boulder Radon are working from reliable information before deciding what corrective action is appropriate.

We Do Not Judge Our Own Work by Our Numbers Alone

We believe homeowners should be able to independently monitor the performance of their radon mitigation system.

You are not required to purchase ongoing radon testing from Boulder Radon for us to take a potential warranty issue seriously.

Whether the elevated result comes from your own properly operated radon monitor, an independent professional, or testing performed by Boulder Radon, we want to investigate legitimate concerns about the performance of our system.

That accountability is an important part of our warranty.

What Happens If Radon Levels Are Elevated?

Contact Boulder Radon and provide us with the information available from your test, including the measurement period, average radon level, tester location, and, when available, the device or testing method used.

We will review the results and determine whether additional verification or an inspection of the mitigation system is appropriate.

If qualifying test results demonstrate that the system is not maintaining the radon level guaranteed under your project-specific warranty, Boulder Radon will address the system in accordance with the terms of that warranty.

Depending on the home and the cause of the elevated readings, this may involve inspecting system operation, checking the fan and pressure, evaluating suction points, checking accessible seals and system components, performing diagnostic testing, or making other appropriate adjustments.

Our objective is not to argue over a number. Our objective is to identify the problem and get the system performing properly.

Radon Is Measured Over Time

Radon levels can change significantly from hour to hour and day to day. Because of this, warranty performance is generally evaluated using an appropriate test average rather than an individual hourly reading or temporary spike.

A consumer monitor showing a brief reading above the warranted level does not by itself establish a warranty failure. Sustained or repeated elevated averages, however, are something we want to know about.

If you are unsure whether the readings you are seeing warrant a service call, contact us.

Changes to the Home Can Affect Radon

A mitigation system is designed around the conditions of the home at the time the system is installed. Significant changes to the structure or operation of the home can change how air and soil gas move through the building.

Examples may include additions, foundation work, crawlspace changes, major remodeling, changes to drainage or sump systems, significant HVAC modifications, damage to mitigation components, disconnected electrical power, removal or alteration of system components, or other substantial changes to the building.

When these conditions contribute to elevated radon levels, additional work may fall outside the original warranty.

We will explain what we find and discuss available options before performing work that is not covered.

Every Home Is Different

Radon mitigation is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is every warranty.

The exact performance guarantee, warranty period, covered components, exclusions, and other terms for your system are provided with your Boulder Radon proposal, invoice, contract, or written warranty.

This webpage describes our general warranty philosophy and process. Your project-specific written warranty controls if its terms differ from the information on this page.

Our Commitment

We want our customers to continue testing their homes.

We want you to know what your radon level is.

And if the system we installed is not doing what we agreed it would do, we want you to call us.

We stand behind our work, we respect independent measurements, and we stand behind our warranty.
